Child Learning Through Toys
What greater joy can you give a child than a toy? It wipes away the tears, distracts from pain, overcomes boredom and loneliness, is a means of interacting with others be they child or adult, and it teaches them to become people.
The pleasure of watching children at play and of observing them handling and mastering their toys is something every adult benefits from. Their little fingers are mastering co ordination and artistic design while building their brains into the complex computers they need for their survival later in life. Toys are the greatest of assets when teaching them the basics for their education.
These instruments of early life need not be the bought toys or be the manufactured pricey gifts that many possibly feel are essential to a happy childhood. If such are not available the child will make its own. A stick becomes a sword or a gun, maybe a tool for exploration, perhaps an airplane or part of kite. The imagination is endless.
Anything that floats can be a boat, a raft or an animal in the make believe world in which children live. But give them the things that resemble what parents use around the house or in the shed and you make their day. What child doesn't imitate mum at the stove cooking when given pots to play with. Give him a toy drill or screwdriver and he is transformed into dad at work building something.
My two youngest grandchildren of just 2 and 3 can already do complex puzzles with a jig saw type animal letter combination. The eldest can count to 20 and when books or toys encourage him he is a different person. Suddenly he takes on the air of a grown up wanting to assist with the chores. He helps his younger brother accomplish things and he can be spotted sitting down reading to him from one of his books just as mum, dad or grandma does.
These children have a blackboard and are learning to draw and write their names on it. They have drawing pencils and colored markers and are occupied for some time sitting quietly coloring in books or making magical pictures on drawing paper. Their sand pit and trampoline are vital components in their arsenal of things to in their day. Daddy has now built them a play house in one of the trees where the imagination and fun will forever increase.
Both children go to day care as their parents work, which is the norm these days, Here they go to town with toys that cause them to explore avenues with peers their own age. Castles are built, ride on toys get a bashing, stories are read to them and playing outside is a whole new adventure with mates they rarely meet outside the center. Their vocabulary improves as they are forced to communicate during play.
Toys make up a their world and fills their days with joy and their dreams with expectations. How they play and what they pretend to be is governed by what they see in their environment. Unfortunately many children are not given toys or encouraged like my grandsons and that is the saddest thing to witness. They see and hear violence, drunkenness and probably watch television or spend their time alone which leads many to throw tantrums for attention. That is not to say that other children don't have tantrums.and my eldest grandson turns on some beauties. But they are usually manageable in a few minutes with the right discipline.
How we rear our children and what they become depends on what we do for them in the first few years of life. Encourage brain development and you will gain a student for life. Discourage their ability and he or she will struggle with everything. Most of all he or she may lack self-esteem and confidence in themselves.
Its not only toys that are important in the early years as this is the time for programming the brain and interacting with adults is vital but it is a necessary part of growing up. The careful considerate parent is aware of these things but many who never have had this kind of attention in their young lives may struggle to understand how to help their own children during their formative years. But its never too late to learn about the benefits of toys and playful interactions.

The video placed here is a self made production. It's funny at times, but mostly it's a bit hokey. It gets the point across of what we're all about. We prefer to spend on quality products. This is so much more than a toy!
